Things continue to get bigger for Newfoundland and Labrador’s folk trio The Once. The Trio is the newest member to join Borealis Records, with their self titled debut. Borealis Records is Canada’s premier folk record label and is run by musicians.

From The Once: “Borealis is a label for musicians run by musicians. This means a lot to us and we are proud to join this folk community and have our work distributed from coast to coast and beyond. Last year at this time we couldn’t imagine we’d be here. It’s been a large year for The Once.”

Anyone who attended the MUSICNL awards show last November had a ringing in their ears, for the next few days. That ringing was the name The Once. Not a known entity, at the time, they were known to all by the end of night. The folk trio took home hardware in all four categories they were nominated in, shocking the crowd.

So far in 2010 they have performed at the Olympics, the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, a Gala performance at the ECMA’s in Sydney and recently joining Stuart McLean on the popular Vinyl Cafe.

A news article on borealisrecords.com states: “The Once debut CD is in the process of being re-packaged and will be available this August”
